Craniosacral Therapy Techniques

Craniosacral therapy (CST) was developed in the 1970′s by Dr. John E. Upledger who was an osteopathic physician. CST is accurately based on osteopathy developed in the 1930′s by William Garner Sutherland. Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a type of gentle hands on manual therapy which is a form of body-work. The light touch that a client will endure is about the weight of a nickel in order to observe the cranio-sacral rhythm that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. The cranio-sacral rhythm is made up of fluid exchanges between the arterial blood flow to the head, and draining the fluid back into the venous return flow. By providing craniosacral techniques, the therapist is the facilitator encouraging the client’s body to heal itself by releasing tension to allow the whole body to relax and self-correct.

Craniosacral therapy strengthens the function of the central nervous system by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (the calming center) so an individual can perform optimally eliminating pain and stress, asymmetries in the body, strengthen the immune system to reduce or prevent disease, and to boost a person’s health and well-being.

Acutonics

Acutonics is a system of healing using the vibrations and sound of precision-calibrated tuning forks. Each tuning fork is attuned to the vibration of the planets, sun, and moon. This method combines the principles of acupuncture, energy medicine, physics and sound healing to help create balance in the mind, body, and spirit. It can help ease muscle pain and tension, reduce symptoms associated with stress, anxiety and depression, assist with sleep issues, and instill an overall sense of peace in addition to relieving many other conditions. The treatment involves the combination of tuning forks placed on areas of pain, acupuncture points, and blocked energy centers. The treatment session also includes a sound healing component using high frequency tuning forks and crystal and Tibetan bowls to assist in deepening the healing in the cells as well as deepening your meditative state. It is truly a unique and innovative approach and is effective for physical, emotional and spiritual balance and healing.

Ayurveda Wellness Counseling

Ayurveda is the science of life that was prevalent in India more than 5,000 thousand years ago. ‘Ayur’ means life and ‘Veda’ is science or knowledge. It is one of the most comprehensive medical sciences of the world. It is a science for your mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda is a conscious-based approach to health that brings harmony and balance in all areas of your life. Ayurveda is a purely naturalistic system which depends on the diagnosis of the three body constitutions – vata, pitta and kapha – in order to achieve the right balance of health.

It is not merely a system of treatments for diseases like the allopathic system, but the holistic method of maintaining all round health and wellness. Ayurveda emphasizes balance and harmony with the help from nature itself. This balance is ‘dynamic’ and needs to be achieved in areas of a person’s life: physical, biomechanical, intellectual, emotional, behavioral, spiritual, familial, social, environmental and universal. Because of this, Ayurveda treats the individual/client with all three dimensions: body. mind, and spirit. More emphasis on the prevention of disease will the help of diet, daily routines, and seasonal routines. Ayurveda deals with diseases, their diagnosis and treatments with a unique approach toward purification and rejuvenation, therefore it makes use of body massages, herbs and yoga, besides several medications.

According to Ayurveda, the definition of a healthy person is “one who has balanced doshas (body constitutions), balanced agni (digestive fires), properly formed dhatus (tissues), proper elimination of waste products, all bodily functions are proper, and whose soul, mind, and all five senses are in bliss”.

Women’s Holistic Health Counseling

This specialty incorporates traditional Western (medical) medicine with Eastern and holistic therapies to provide an individualized integrative approach for healing. Women are faced with many physical, hormonal, emotional and spiritual challenges throughout their lives and they deserve to be counseled about the many holistic options that may help them. For many, gynecological health may be an area filled with various questions and emotional concerns. Many questions may arise around topics such as:

  • Fibroids
  • HPV/sexually transmitted disease
  • When to have a hysterectomy or other gynecological surgeries
  • Birth control options and management
  • Pregnancy planning and loss
  • Menopause and managing symptoms with holistic measures
  • Balancing self-care while raising a family

In a session you will be evaluated to determine areas of concern in order to align which holistic modality would best serve you. In your evaluation I would look at all aspects of health and well-being such as nutrition, exercise, work-life balance, life stressors, mental well-being, spirituality, and body image to address your symptoms of concern. Women go through many transitions throughout their life from puberty to menopause. Without understanding these natural physical, emotional, and spiritual changes one can feel alone, anxious, and uncertain. Having the knowledge and support to master these transitions can empower you to have the life that you desire.

Body Feedback with Essential Oils

The Body-Feedback system identifies the best essential oils to promote healing and maintain health based on a person’s individual needs. It uses specific muscle groups and acupuncture points which become reactive or painful when symptoms or imbalances are present. The most effective essential oils will release tender or painful reactive areas thereby showing us which oils your body needs. Therapeutic grade essential oils are packed with enzymes, vitamins and minerals and are able to penetrate the skin, fat, muscle and even some brain and bone matter. These applications allow for a variety of application methods that address a wide range of health issues. I believe if we listen to our bodies they can show us how to help heal ourselves.

Rain Drop Massage

Raindrop technique was developed by D. Gary Young, one of the leading experts on aromatherapy. This technique involved dropping essential oils onto the spine and then working them into the spine using various methods which stimulate energy impulses and disperse the oils along the nervous system and throughout the body. This method helps to reduce spinal inflammation and kills viruses that hibernate along the spinal column. It is also effective in reducing physical symptoms of spinal curvatures and aids the body in restoring balance by clearing and re-aligning the chakras or energy centers. Even though the massage only lasts an hour the oils can work for up to a week or more in the body.

Reiki

A healing technique using channeled energy to activate the natural healing process and restore physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Astrology

Astrology falls under the category of metaphysics, the study of that which is beyond the physical. It’s similar to other fields that are founded on ancient theories of energy patterns, like feng shui, acupuncture, and yoga. Astrology at high levels is a mastery of its particular science and the intuitive arts. As the earliest known ordering of existence, long before recorded history, it’s been called the “Mother of all Sciences.” It is a personal guide to assess your strengths and challenges. It can be used to help navigate a person’s path, gifts, or life purpose. It can give you insights into your life challenges and how you can transform them into opportunities.

Shamanism and Energy Healing

Shamanism is based off of the direct teachings and communication with nature. The energy practices help us to reconnect to our own inner voice and knowing thereby enhancing the body’s ability to heal itself. It can be used to remove energetic blocks, to realign the chakras (your energy centers) and to help you tap into inner knowing. It is a spiritual philosophy that encourages you to listen to your own inner wisdom to help heal the body at an energetic level. The practitioner assesses your energy field to identify blockages or excesses that may be hindering your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Shamanic practices can reconnect you with the elements and energy of nature providing grounding and stability in your life and to enhance your intuition in order to heal yourself. Examples of these energy healings that can be experienced in a session are illumination, journeying, visualization, and soul retrieval.
